The Plant Kingdom

The Plant Kingdom is to bring dead plants and fruits back to life in a new world. The Plant Kingdom is a representation of life in another entirely different dimension that should be perceived as a stand-alone aspect independent of human perceptions.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I planted vegetables and fruits on the balcony to keep busy. This endeavor became my source of joy and relaxation during such hard times. I spent many days and nights cultivating these plants and waiting for them to sprout and bear fruit. From this, I learned first-hand that it takes months for fruits and vegetables to grow from seedling to fruition. During this time, plants have to go through the sun, wind, and insects before they can grow. The plants took on a life of their own after planting and by being a part of their growth process, I realized that presumably dead plants were worth saving. Through my close involvement I could see how resilient the plants were and looking at the plant’s beginnings, a seed, and the projection that seeds from the grown plant could foster the birth of another, yielded the concept of an infinite continuity of life.

Inspired by my experience, I wanted to bring plants and fruits back to life before they were thrown away by people. I did this by spray-painting them and combining objects using clay to make them look infinitely alive.
